Hello everyone,
I have a LowPoly Car Model in 3DS Max which was used for "other visualizations" and I am trying to bring it to Panthera. The Car hast around 300k Vertices in total. I split it into Interior and Exterior models as recommend, ending with 150k Vertices each. I used several Optimizers and it took quite long but I was able to reduce the Vertices under the .Dof Limitation of 2^16. Furthermore, I was able to integrate those models into Panthera.
But nonetheless, I am not satisfied with the result, as you can see the poly reduction. Therefore I want to ask if it is possible to have multiple "model_incar" or "body" files. Using more than one .Dof would increase the possible Polys enormously as my GPU is not completely loaded running 100 fps so far.
The Car is modeled using multiple Materials and having more than 250 Objects (which I had to reduce due to the limitation in the number of Objects in the ASE Import of Modeler).
Whenever I have an object in a Track with more than 2^16 Vertices, I simply cut it into two individual objects (resulting in two .dofs). But as Cars are merged into one .Dof this is not that easy.
Thank you in advance. Undercover

Hi Undercover,
You can use generic car models to try that. Those move with the car. In the car's car.ini, add something like this:
ref_body_offset { ; Reference for the body model offset and generic models offset { x=0 y=-0.25 z=0 } } graphics { generic { model0~ref_body_offset { file=car_body_1.dof } model1~ref_body_offset { file=car_body_2.dof } ...
The 'ref_body_offset' may be useful to tweak the model placements, but are optional.
