Hi guys, Im currently modelling a Formula Ford 1600 for my University dissertation and am having a couple of issues. First of all, I've been having trouble with textures, the model will load in Panthera although the textures are missing, showing just as pink and purple on the surfaces of the model. I assumed this was an issue with my 3DS Max files, so went and applied all materials using a Multi/Sub Object and applying each TGA file to the model, then adding a UVW map, before exporting as an ASE. I am yet to test this model on Panthera on the Uni simulator although on Panthera Free on my own PC the body model doesn't show at all, and it looks like this in Modeler... I'm not expecting this to work on the Uni PC either. Any hints? The other issue I'm having is the error message when I try and import my interior model into Modeler: "In mrun.cpp, line 491, function ModelLoadASE()" "Can't load model 'TEMP_ASE_Cutter/_TEMPFLOATCUT.ase'" I only get this message when I try and import without animation, if I try to import with animation then Modeler crashes instantly. Banging my head against the wall trying to sort this - if anyone has any suggestions that'd be brilliant. Cheers. Attachments:

Hi Jake, Nice you're building this Formula Ford model, cool!
Do you have a car.shd file in your car directory? If you don't know how to generate this, click the 'Create template shader' button in the right hand side of the modeller window.
Also, don't fret when you do not see a texture in modeller. The most important thing is that it works in Panthera Free for now.
If you like you can always post a max file or the Panthera car so we can have a look.

Thanks for the reply! I do have a shader file but it's named body.shd, is this ok? Perhaps Panthera is looking for car.shd... I've attaced my body.dof, body.shd, and max file (in the zip folder). Cheers Attachments:body.shd (908 B)

Also, here's a file containing my interior model that won't import into Modeler, in max and ase formats. Attachments:ff1600int.zip (243.19 KB)

Hi Jake, Works fine! You are correct, Panthera expects a car.shd Please use the provided sample cars for reference as to what Panthera is looking for. As for the interior, it crashed modeler alright. I did import it into max. What I noticed was that it looked like it was built in other software than max, is this the case? Some edges were missing, some normals were locked. I unlocked the normals: - apply an 'edit normals' modifier - ctrl-a to select all normals - hit 'break' - hit 'unify' - convert to editable poly To be on the safe side, I did this for all objects. I also consolidated all objects to one object to be on the safe side and make it easier to debug. Worked immediately after that

You're a lifesaver! Thanks very much for the help. It turns out I also had an issue with my textures, I know it's not ideal but I cnaged them all to JPEGs and they work fine now. Took a fair while but everything is as it should be now, even figured out the mirrors! I'm going to try and mess about with smoothing the model to make it look a bit cleaner. Next to work out how to put in wishbones and driveshafts... And then work on the physics (the main bit!)
