I was trying to add my own set of barriers to the default track and ran into a problem - I cannot find any files that would contain the track's geometry. Is it not possible to get access to them or am I just missing something? Another thing that I don't exactly understand is how materials work. How do I assign materials defined in track.shd to individual models?
Hi, For the supplied tracks we have compiled the graphics, it isn't possible to unpack those unfortunately.
Materials are assigned to models in a 3d software package such as 3Dsmax. In the track.shd the properties of the materials are stated in order to tweak them. This is also the place where you can decide which shader the material should use. This allows you to differentiate trees from asphalt for example.
If you really need to place something, I do think we have shipped a cone model with panthera free. You can use TrackEd to place these wherever you like. Functionality for this is quite limited though, but it works.
